Award Winning Visual & Performing Arts Programs

Duarte Unified is proud to offer award winning Visual & Performing Arts (VAPA) programs for students in grades TK-12 at all of our schools. This includes drama, art, video production, graphic arts, photography as well as instrumental and choral instruction.
Band classes for all students in 6th grade is also offered at every elementary school. This year, VH1 Save the Music Foundation selected Duarte Unified School District as their newest music partner, and granted the district band instruments to grow the elementary instrumental program. This year, Beardslee and Royal Oaks Elementary Schools each received $35,000 in brand new instruments to provide music education to all of their students in both 5th and 6th grade. In celebration of this new partnership, VH1 invited our music teachers and students as their special guests to the launch of the new Rock 'N Royals Barbie and Benefit Concert. Twenty-five 5th grade students each from Beardslee and Royal Oaks attended along with several DHS band and choir students who volunteered in the rock star zone where they will be teaching other children how to play an instrument.
