Ms. Char Wilson
“It takes a village to raise a child.” Hi, my name is Char Wilson, and I am pleased to be a part of the village that will impact your child’s life. Welcome to 8th grade at Maxwell Academy!
This is my first year teaching at Maxwell, but I am not new to Duarte or teaching. I’ve been an educator in Duarte since 2002, teaching the middle school years (6-8) at Valley View, Royal Oaks and Northview. Needless to say, this is the grade level I love to teach. I am teaching Language & Literature (English) and Individuals & Society (US History) to our 8th grade students. With over 15 years of teaching under my belt, I can truly say that teaching and learning are my passions (besides a good conversation).
I have a BA in Elementary Education from MVSU, an M.Ed. in Elementary Education from DSU, and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from CUI. Did I say I love to learn? It’s true!
This year’s 8th grade theme is “STUDENT ACCOUNTABILITY”. I look forward to working with parents, students and teachers in helping our 8th graders develop the skills necessary to ensure they are ready for high school and beyond.
A few of my favorite things include: my parents (I speak of them often), my nieces and nephew (my kids from another mother and father), humor (trust me, I’m funny), naps (I’ll probably say this again), Honda (my cat), Snickers (packed with peanuts it really satisfies….this is true), traveling (I’m a road hog and I’ve got the miles to prove it), naps (told ya), reading and watching historical fiction, and my students (yup, I love you, too).
I’m ready to have another great of education and fun. I hope you’re ready, too!
