Mrs. Tanja Bughman
Welcome to Room 19. I am thrilled to be your child's teacher!
I grew up in Pasadena, California. UC Santa Barbara is my alma mater and I graduated with a degree in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations. I also earned my teaching credential there. Several years later I attended Cal State LA where I earned my Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in math. I began teaching at Maxwell Academy in 2006. I have taught grades 3-6 in Glendale USD and Duarte USD. Now I am looking forward to diving into the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
Some of the topics we will be learning about in Math are ratios, statistics, and multiplying/dividing fractions. During Science we will develop our understanding of matter, ecosystems, and weather/climate through the IB Inquiry Cycle. Finally, in Design we will be exploring the MYP Design Cycle through the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It’s going to be an exciting year of learning!Students and I will be communicating through Google Classroom, district email (email@example.com), and video conferencing through Google Meet. I will be communicating with parents through district email (firstname.lastname@example.org), Google Classroom summaries, the district phone line (626-599-5359), and the ParentSquare app.
I look forward to the year ahead!
