I grew up in Burbank, California where I lived with my parents and one older brother. I went to the same elementary school from kindergarten to eighth grade. I have 3 childhood friends from school that to this day, I am still close to. We have known each other for over thirty years. The memories I have of my youth are playing with my friends on the playground. I treasure these friendships and always will.
As I grew into an adult, I knew that I wanted to work with children. During college, I worked in Social Services counseling youth in Group Homes. That path led me to become a developmental interventionist working with younger children that had speech and language delays. After that, I found myself working for the LA Unified School District. I was a teacher’s aide for a few years and then became a 1:1 aide. This is when I knew I wanted to become a teacher.
This will be my 16th year with Duarte Unified School District. I worked at Maxwell for 4 years and have now been with Royal Oaks for the last 12 years. I hope to spend the remainder of my teaching career with Duarte Unified School District.
