Mrs. Ramirez

Hi! My name is Cathy Ramirez and I am excited to be teaching 2nd grade at Maxwell Academy. This is my 10th year in the Duarte District and my 6th year teaching at Maxwell.  I grew up in Northern California and I attended high school in Ceiba, Puerto Rico.  I attended Citrus College where I received my AA in Social Sciences.  After that, I attended California State University Chico, where I received my Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies.  I received my Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential at California State University Los Angeles.  I earned my Master’s Degree in Education at San Diego Christian College.

I am excited to be teaching 2^nd grade this year!  I am looking forward to "Asking, Thinking and Doing" with the kids, as we begin this year “online” exploring and inquiring into the world around us.  In 2^nd grade we are going to on many virtual explorations.  Some things we are doing are exploring the diversity of life in different habitats, and inquiring into how earth’s erosion happens slowly and quickly.   We will also develop an understanding for our roles in the economy.  I am looking forward to an exciting 2020-2021 school year.

When I am not in the classroom discovering exciting new things with my students, I enjoy spending time with my husband, son and our dog, Shaggy and cat, Kitty.  Together we enjoy going to soccer games, playing board games, spending time with friends, spending time outdoors, going to the beach and snow skiing.
