(Duarte, CA) – Duarte Unified School District (DUSD) is pleased to announce Erin Fish has been selected to serve in the new Assistant Principal position added to the administration team at Royal Oaks STEAM Academy which was approved by the Board of Education at the Special Meeting held on June 1, 2018.

Over the past 18 years, Erin has honed her administrative skill set by serving as a teacher and administrator here within DUSD. She has repeatedly proven to be a capable and compassionate leader who has been entrusted to undertake the district’s most important objectives. For 16 years she was a member of the Maxwell Academy team as a classroom teacher before becoming an Outreach Consultant and then the International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator. During this time, Erin was instrumental in successfully guiding the school through the rigorous International Baccalaureate World School authorization process for the Primary Years Programme.

As of 2016, Erin has been the district’s K-8 Arts Coordinator & California School of the Arts-San Gabriel Valley (CSArts-SGV) Liaison, and for the past two years, has facilitated the launch of the district’s arts task force as well as created the conditions for the one-of-a-kind partnership the district has established with CSArts-SGV that is directly benefitting not just the children of Duarte, but from across this region.

In all of the positions Erin has taken on, she has demonstrated strengths in curriculum design, guiding instruction for all age-levels, building camaraderie among faculty members and establishing partnerships built on trust with students, staff and parents.

“As a vital member of the district’s leadership team, Erin is an insightful professional with a keen eye for detail and a talent for bringing out the best in both children and adults. She is an experienced administrator who works well with all stakeholders. Erin holds herself to the highest of expectations and never disappoints to deliver only the highest quality results. I know she will be an incredible asset to the Royal Oaks team,” stated Rick Crosby, DUSD Director of Personnel.

The enrollment at Royal Oaks STEAM Academy, which will reach the 900 mark this coming 2018-19 year, has increased rapidly in the past year due to the school’s transition from a K-6 elementary to a K-8 academy and the inclusion of the joint DUSD/CSArts-SGV 7-8 Grade conservatory program. To provide additional support for this growing learning community, Erin will join the current administration led by Principal, Janice Kolodinski, and Assistant Principal, Dr. Rasheedah Gates.

“I am excited to join the Royal Oaks STEAM Academy leadership team," stated Erin Fish. "I look forward to working in collaboration with our talented staff, caring families and supportive community to continue to build a dynamic learning environment where our students flourish.”
