Week of May 26, 2019


Please read the information below about the events and activities taking place this last week of school for 2018-19 in our district:

• Monday, May 27, is Memorial Day. There is no school and the district office will be closed as DUSD joins the nation in paying tribute to those that served and sacrificed to protect our country.

• DUSD has partnered with D’Veal to address teen suicide prevention by hosting the Choose 2 Live Event on Tuesday, May 28, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Royal Oaks STEAM Academy that is open to the community.

• The M.I.T. High School Commencement Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 28, at the Duarte Performing Arts Center beginning at 6:00 p.m.

• Valley View’s Sixth Grade Promotion is Thursday, May 30, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on campus.

• The first-ever DUSD All Academies Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony is Wednesday, May 29, at Falcon Field starting at 6:00 p.m.

• The Graduation Ceremony for Duarte High School’s Class of 2019 is Thursday, May 30, at 6:30 p.m. at Falcon Field. 

• The All Academy and Duarte High School ceremonies will also be broadcast live online. To view, go to http://www.mldistrict.com/districts/ca/duarte/.

• CSArts-SGV will graduate their first class of Seniors on Friday, May 31, at 4:00 p.m. in the Duarte Performing Arts Center.

• The Board of Education will hold a Special Board Meeting on May 30, 2019, at 9:15 a.m. in the District Office, Curriculum Lab located at 1620 Huntington Drive, Duarte. Once posted the agenda will be available to view online here. For questions, please call (626) 599-5037.

• DUSD is currently accepting applications to fill vacancies on the Measure E Citizen's Oversight Committee (COC). Find the application and more information on the District website here. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.

• The last day of school for this school year is Thursday, May 30. Please note, there are special dismissal times on certain days this week at our academies and high schools. Check for communications from your child’s school for the details.

• Thank you all for an amazing year, and I wish you a fun and safe summer break! For those participating in our STEAM Summer Experience, see you back on July 1st, and to everyone returning or newly joining our DUSD family for 2019-20, I look forward to seeing you on August 12 for the first day of school for next year.
