At its April 16, 2026 meeting, the Board of Education appointed Dr. James “Jack” Plotkin to serve as the District’s Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services. His employment is pending final approval of his contract, and he is anticipated to begin service this summer.
Dr. Plotkin currently serves as Executive Director of Innovation and Student Support Services in El Segundo Unified School District, where he leads efforts supporting Special Education, student services, Multi-Tiered System of Supports, and alternative education programs. His work has centered on strengthening systems and aligning supports to better meet the diverse needs of students.
He brings additional experience as a middle school principal, where he guided his school in becoming an International Baccalaureate World School. Dr. Plotkin has a strong background in instructional practices and collaborative systems that support student achievement.
The District looks forward to welcoming Dr. Plotkin and the leadership he will bring in support of students, staff, and the broader school community.
