Duarte Unified School District is excited to offer a variety of summer learning opportunities for students of all ages. Programs are designed to support academic growth, provide credit recovery and enrichment opportunities, strengthen essential skills, and help students stay connected to learning throughout the summer. Most programs will run June 3–30, 2026, with no classes on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.
Elementary School Programs (Incoming Grades 1–4)
Location: Royal Oaks Academy
Dates: June 3–30, 2026
Time: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Royal Oaks Academy will offer a STEAM-integrated summer learning program that combines literacy and mathematics reinforcement with engaging, hands-on learning experiences in:
- Science
- Technology
- Engineering
- Art
- Mathematics (STEAM)
The program is designed to help students maintain academic momentum while exploring new concepts through creative and collaborative activities.
Intermediate and Middle School Programs (Incoming Grades 5–8)
Location: Maxwell Academy
Dates: June 3–30, 2026
Time: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Students entering grades 5–8 may participate in academic enrichment and elective opportunities, including:

High School Summer School (Current Grades 9–11)
Location: Duarte High School
Dates: June 3–30, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Duarte High School Summer School provides opportunities for credit recovery, grade improvement, and elective enrichment.
Students who have failed a core course will be automatically enrolled in credit recovery. Students who earned a "D" in a core course may retake the course to improve eligibility for four-year university admission requirements.

Attendance is essential. Because Summer School is only 19 instructional days, students who miss more than two days may be dropped from the program.

Early College Opportunities
Through Duarte Unified's partnership with Citrus College, eligible students may enroll in Early College courses offered on the Duarte High School campus.
Dates: June 1–30, 2026
Course schedules and additional information will be shared directly with participating students and families through ParentSquare.
Incoming 9th Grade Opportunities
Current eighth-grade students may be eligible for:
- Early College courses
- Summer Bridge support for students who may benefit from additional academic or social-emotional transition support
- Special Education summer programming through their case carrier, if applicable
Special Education Summer Programs
Duarte Unified will offer a variety of summer programs and Extended School Year (ESY) services for eligible students based on their Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Programs are available for preschool through adult transition students and include:
- ESY services
- Academic enrichment
- Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI)
- Mild to Moderate and Moderate to Severe programs
- High school credit recovery support
- Adult Transition Program services focused on independent living, employment readiness, communication, community access, technology, self-advocacy, and wellness
