Alongside Principal Kevin Morris and Associate Principal Russ Earnest, she will support both high schools while serving as the primary administrative contact for Mount Olive.
Fairchild firmly believes there is no single path to success, making Duarte Unified School District’s wide range of opportunities especially meaningful to her.
“We have learned through life that there is more than one way to get to a destination,” said Fairchild. “I think that is the beautiful thing about Duarte Unified. We offer a full spectrum of ways for students to meet their goals.”
Her own professional journey has shaped the way she thinks about the possibilities available to students. Before spending 20 years in K-12 education, she worked in healthcare and the airline industry, two fields that gave her perspective on the many directions a career can take.
Most recently, she worked at an alternative high school serving approximately 300 students, where she gained experience supporting students with different needs and goals.
Fairchild’s goal is to help create a high school experience where students see themselves in the curriculum, the choices they make and the paths they pursue.
As she begins her new role, Fairchild is excited to find ways for Duarte High School and Mount Olive to work together while preserving what makes each school unique.
“The question I keep asking myself is how can we innovate the partnership between Duarte High School and Mount Olive so that we get the best of both worlds,” said Fairchild. “How can we optimize our opportunities and develop points of convergence where we can strengthen both programs?”
Fairchild is excited to build relationships and learn alongside students, families and staff. She has already been blown away by how welcoming and genuinely friendly everyone throughout the district has been.
We want to extend a warm welcome to Associate Principal Fairchild. We are excited to have her as part of our Duarte community.
