Who can study in Duarte Unified School District?
DUSD will accept students under F-1 status at the high school level, grades 9-12. Students must be under the age of 18 on the first day of attendance. F-1 students must not have graduated from a high school program or the equivalent. DUSD is unable to accommodate Special Education or students with special medical or educational requirements as F-1 students. F-1 students are prohibited from attending public schools for grades K-8 and publicly funded adult education programs in the U.S.
Do Green Card holders need F-1 Visas?
Applicants who hold a Green Card are not considered international students. Please follow the domestic registration processes at the student’s home school.
Can current B1/B2 Visa holders enroll in public school?
No. Regulations specifically prohibit study in the U.S. while in B-1/B-2 status. The B1/B-2 visa is issued to a legal foreign visitor having residence in a foreign country which he/she has no intention of abandoning and who is visiting the U.S. temporarily for business or pleasure.
How long can a student study in Duarte Unified School District?
F-1 Students can study in DUSD for one year or two semesters. Student attendance cannot exceed a total of 12 months.

How long does it take for an application to get approved?
The full application and all supporting documents must be submitted prior to final approval. Incomplete applications will delay the review process. Falsification of information may result in the rescinding of admission to the program and termination of the I-20 form.
How will I be notified if my application is approved?
Students will receive a program acceptance letter via email. The student, caregiver, or agency representative will be provided with the original I-20 form and receipt for tuition payment.
How can I find a homestay?
Parents or the agency representative are responsible for securing suitable living arrangements for the student. Homestay accommodation and caregivers are not provided by Duarte Unified School District.
